Production is limited to 4,000 numbered cabinets of 50 cigars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eLa Escepción was founded in the mid-19th century by José Gener Batet, the Spanish-born tobacco man best remembered as the creator of Hoyo de Monterrey. Long regarded as a sister brand to Hoyo, it built a reputation for richly flavoured cigars before production ended in 1989. For more than two decades the name lay dormant, until Diadema persuaded Habanos S.A. to bring it back in 2011 with the Selectos Finos, followed by the Don José in 2015. Unlike almost every other Regional Edition, La Escepción is not part of the regular Habanos portfolio, which makes each release a notable event for collectors.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe Selectos Reales is a belicoso, measuring 52 ring gauge by 140mm (5 1\/2\"), the same elegant tapered shape as the celebrated Bolívar Belicosos Finos.
